The is going to be blog that I have for my art class.
Human Figure Project- Kolesa
Description: My piece is all about the movement of different superheros. For this project I decided to use mostly primary colors for the people while using black as background. The black background puts emphasis on the superheros. The Flash's background is mostly lightning because that is what generates when he runs. With Spider-Man i put the eiffel tower and then for Iron Man I put the Avengers symbol.
Analyze: There is emphasis on the superheros because of the way that the superheros are colored a lot harder than the lightly colored background. Within the project there is movement because of the different poses that are representing an action being done. Finally there is contrast between the primary colored heros and the gray/black colored background.
Interpret: Superheros are one of my favorite kinds of movies/tv shows to watch so I thought i should incorporate it in my art. I figured they were the best for movement because there is always a lot of action going on. Then for culture I have wanted to go to the eiffel tower so I thought it would be the perfect way to represent culture. In addition to, adding the different things that the hero is associated with. My story is basically that all these superheros are from different worlds.
Judgement: A personal strength of mine is the way I drew the composition of the bodies. Along with the way that the bodies are representing movement. Something i could grow on is the proportion of the bodies with not making the bodies so big and the legs so small. In addition to, figuring out how to improve on drawing hands and feet when in complicated positions.I also could have probably spent more time in the backgrounds. Overall I believe I did well for learning how to express movement and draw bodies in different positions.

Visual Narrative Project- Kolesa
Reference Photos: From Van Goghs piece, I liked the colors that were used so I decided I would incorporate more blues into my piece. Then in the contemporary art I thought it looked like the sea so I thought it was fitting since I was drawing something that was happening under water.
Description: The piece is in a comic strip style. Using lots of blues because of the ocean. The eyes of the sharks are red. While Polly is a bright pink color. The under water palace is more of the typical brown color. With little comment bubbles and little passages of explanations. In addition to, Polly beating up the sharks and defeating them.
Analysis: Within my piece there is contrast because Polly has a brighter pink color to her which makes her stand out also causing emphasis. Meanwhile the contrast is the cool tones of everything around Polly to Polly who is bright and not dark. In addition to, there being variety with the different types of blues that I had used.
Interpretation: I wanted to make my visual narrative more like a comic strip. I also wanted to make it a cartoon because I thought it would be more fun. Also wanting to bring in a strong female role to fight crime and not watch a man do all the dirty work. I wanted to prove that women are tough as well. Then showing that they can overcome all of their hard obstacles.
Judgement: Personally I think that I could’ve spent more time putting in more details. Also when coloring to make it more smooth and not as obvious that it was colored quickly. I think I did a really good job with making the palace have more detail. In addition to, bring really proud of myself for making a new character from my imagination. Finally, I love the way that the sharks are all detailed in the fighting scene with Polly.

Open Ended Project- Kolesa
Description: In the picture there is a stage that colored in a plain black. Then the lights from the stage are a lighter color to compliment the warm colors. In addition to, the fading from red to orange to yellow as a background. The bubbles hold each member of why don’t we. Each member is colored in black with a darker blue surrounding them.
Analysis: There is contrast between the colors of the background and the colors of the stage and bubbles. Along with emphasis on the boys in the bubbles because they are floating around unlike any other object in the picture. They are also blue compared to the warm colored background. Lastly, there is harmony within my painting because of the cool and warm colors that compliment each other.
Interpret: Music has always been close to my heart, so i wanted to do art that incorporated that. Why Don’t We is a boy band that has been a good part of my life because it brings me joy. It only seem fit that i draw them. I wanted to do something unique with the bubbles floating above the stage because it seemed different than other fan art i’ve seen. So i started off with the bubbles idea and then decided i needed a stage. Then after that i wanted to develop a color palette that complimented each other.
Judgement: I think i did really well in blending out the water color because it was something i wanted to get better at. I wish i would’ve spent more time on the boys shadows because they aren’t quite accurate. The stage turned out better than i expected, so i was proud that when i finished it pulled the piece together. I want to improve on not painting over the sharpie because it shows through. Overall this has had to one of my best pieces i’ve done this year.
Typography- Kolesa
Description: my picture includes a quote with illustrations. In the bottom left corner there is a quarter of an Earth. Then in the top right corner there is a quarter of a moon. There is a rocket in the middle of the page taking off from the earth to the moon. In addition to, the words being written in yellow. The rocket is red, blue and green with flames coming out the back. Also the background is black with white splattered paint stars.
Analysis: There is variety with the different font choices and all the different colors. Then there is balance within the page because both contain equal sides of words and illustrations. In addition to, movement within the piece because you’re eyes move from the Earth to the rocket to the moon and then to the words.
Interpretation: My quote is from my favorite band Why Don’t We. I picked the quote because i thought it was sweet. The song the quotes is in talks about love and how you would do anything for them. Then i started off with my quote and thought about the image that it went with. After that I figured out what the fonts would be because the project is typography.
Judgement: I think overall i did pretty well on this project. I do think when i did the splatter paint that i should’ve done it before i wrote the words. So when i did the paint it wouldn’t have gotten on my rocket or words. I also think that i could’ve gone over the words one more time with the yellow paint. I think the words with the different fonts turned out better than i thought. In addition to, the way the i did the rocket with the different colors and the flame coming out the back.
